Easy Ways To Fix PC Errors and Make Your Computer Faster
Since we rely on our computers so much these days we should all know a little about the maintenance that is needed and the things that we can do to have a faster computer.
This Blog Goes Over Easy Step By Step Methods Used To Fix PC Errors and Maintain Faster Computer Performance.
Below you will find some easy things that you can do at home (or office) to make your pc run faster. There’s a strong possibility that you are able to increase your computer’s speed – on your own – and without the need of paying out a lot money.
There are a lot of technical support sites for you to get information from to help make your computer faster and most have more actual training than we do here. But we think our approach to helping you is better because we have been where you are now. We are not techies or geeks or whatever. If you are like us, you don’t speak that language. It seems that technical help is confusing to a lot of people and they end up just paying for someone else to do what they could have done themselves, very easily, if the instruction would have been a little plainer or detailed.
These steps to speed up pc performance are simple to follow and should show you how to test, optimize and repair your own computer without having to have any repair experience. It may even be too simple sometimes but we feel that is better than being too technical and confusing.
As you go into these steps keep in mind that probably 75% of computer performance issues are eventually found to be in the “windows registry”. You can test this very easily with a completely FREE scan. Just click below –
The scan is free to run and then you decide if you want to purchase the software (less than $25) to do the repairs and optimization.
Even though these are listed as “steps”, you don’t have to go all the way through any one of these. If you already know that this step is not what is wrong with your pc, go on to the next one.
Different Ways To Make Computer Faster
Slow Internet Access?
First issue: Do you need faster computer speed or is it in your Internet connection?
If you know that your computer is too slow when doing regular functions, not on the Internet, such as printing .pdf files, editing Excel worksheets or opening a picture already on your computer, then you should skip on to step 2, because your pc is the problem not slow internet speed.
But if you still think it might be slow internet access causing at least part of the problem, a quick, free test will tell you just how fast your online connection really is… just click Speakeasy Speedtest. Then choose a city close to you and the test will start. It takes less than a minute and it will give you the download speed and the upload speed of your connection.
A typical downloading speed is around 6mb/s but that can vary based on your agreement with your Internet service provider, if you have on a DSL line or Cable connection (cable is normally a good bit speedier), and your residence or office’s closeness to the a strong Internet line. If your connection speed is below 4mb/s you probably have a slow Internet speed problem.
You need to speak to your ISP by telephone and they can run a speed test themselves, online, and see what is causing your slow speed internet. But one thing you may want to do before making that call (which will probably take a some time) is to check out your wireless router and how well it is working. The best way to know if it is OK or not is to operate more than one computer doing internet downloading at the same time and see if it makes the computer faster. Or simply have 2 or more computers on the wireless network browse the web, going fast between different pages and sites. (it really needs to be web sites the computers have not been to before). If this does not affect speed then your Internet and wireless system is OK.
Windows Updates
At this point we are sure your problem is the computer itself. Ask the next question: Does your pc have all the Windows Updates it should? If you are not sure do this:
First go into the Control Panel (Start button and look at pop-up list) then into Windows Update. Do you see any uninstalled updates? (see picture) If you you do find some updates that are installed the pc must not be set-up to automatically add updates. You need to change it to automatic so not only will you not forget to do them yourself but so that the update will be on your computer as soon as possible. Some updates are very time sensitive. That is they sent out to protect your pc from a NEW issue and it needs to added very quickly. It’s not just pc errors they address but problems that vary from security issues to programing compatibilities that occur almost daily. This is very important for your computer’s health and a faster computer.
Also if some of the updates listed are “critical” but your computer has not been able to install them for some reason,
you may have a more serious situation going on with the pc. And this may be something you will need assistance with. There is contact information with Microsoft (see the picture) there if you want to get them to help fix system errors causing this. Or you may want to use a local computer tech. You don’t want to be making internal changes such as in the system configuration without good advice.
On the next page we will look at how to make computer faster methods including how we can fix pc errors, CPU capacity and storage space requirements… and inexpensive thing that can be done to get faster pc speed.
